Summertime Greetings
Welcome to the best time of year to play some golf. The
days are long and it looks like the rainy days are more
behind us. Our course is in perhaps the best shape it
has ever been due to perfect growing weather and
maintenance has done a nice job with conditions.
Sightings of deer, bear, pheasants and wild turkeys are
not guaranteed (I did have a customer ask me to let go a
deer or two while he played if I could), but seem to be
more common.
The evenings and early mornings can be some of the best
time to play this time of year: less crowded means more
quiet, you can play as fast as you like, and we have
twilight rates that are very reasonable.

Last Month’s Contest Results
The club was the
invention of tour player Jerry Barber and was touted as
being a ‘shankless’ club. While it did help alleviate
the shanks, the club really never got airborne.

This month’s contest describes a colorful and
important character in golf’s past. One memorable story
I heard was of his ability to throw playing cards across
a room into his hat. He would bet anyone on making more
into the hat through a deck of cards – what they didn’t
know was his constant practice of this skill when he was
by himself.
